LIFT program – Ndinda Nige Project

Ndinga Nige Project focuses on creating safe, inclusive learning environments and providing girls in upper primary with essential SRHR knowledge and life skills, integrating HIV, GBV, and mental health support.

To improve primary education completion and learning outcomes, particularly for girls and other vulnerable children, Community Health Boosters (CHB), in partnership with the Ministry of Education (MINEDUC), Rwanda Basic Education Board (REB), UNICEF, and the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), implemented the “Protect Me to Learn and Empower Me to Thrive: Building a Brighter Future for Girls in Rwanda – “Ndinda Nige” initiative under the Learning and Inclusion For Transformation (LIFT) program.

This project focuses on creating safe and inclusive learning environments while equipping girls in the upper primary with essential SRHR knowledge and life skills aiming to address critical gaps in these areas, fostering a brighter and healthier future for girls in Rwanda.

LIFT Program will be implemented in 800 schools including a subset of 430 schools for inclusive education. So far, CHB has implemented the program in three districts; Ngororero, Gakenke, and Rusizi.

Key objectives of this initiative

  • Strengthening existing clubs in targeted schools
  • Inauguration of new clubs in schools which do not have them
  • Equip Schools with educational materials including YAhealth Games, Magazines, and Adolescent Health Club Manual
  • Training the teachers and students leading the club
