YAhealth game

The YAhealth Game is an innovative educational board game developed by Community Health Boosters (CHB) in collaboration with UNESCO’s O3 Programme. This was designed for young people in Rwanda, it aims to promote mental health awareness and sexual and reproductive health education in an engaging, stigma-free environment.

The game is structured as a card-based, question-and-answer activity suitable for 2 to 4 players, including peers, parents, teachers, and students. It addresses topics such as mental wellness, substance abuse prevention, life skills, and healthy relationships. By fostering open dialogue and interactive learning, the game helps dismantle misconceptions and cultural barriers surrounding mental health and related issues.

In addition to the board game, CHB has developed the YAhealth mobile app, available on Android and iOS platforms. This bilingual (English and Kinyarwanda) app offers features like menstrual cycle tracking, mental health self-assessments, expert chats, service locators, and gamified quizzes, all tailored for youth aged 10 to 24.

The YAhealth Game has been utilized in various educational and community settings, including UNESCO-led peer education workshops, to enhance learning and engagement among Rwandan youth.
